Short helicopter flight from Pokhara to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m). Close-up Annapurna & Machhapuchhre views in about an hour.
Mardi Himal is the newer, quieter alternative to the Annapurna Base Camp helicopter run — shorter in the air, lighter on the wallet, and just as dramatic once you land. The flight lifts off from Pokhara and reaches Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4,500 metres in around fifteen minutes, setting down on a high ridge with an unobstructed sweep of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Singu Chuli, and Hiunchuli close enough to feel touchable.
Because it's one of the shortest high-altitude landings on offer from Pokhara, this tour works well for travellers squeezing a Himalayan moment into a tight schedule, or as a lower-cost entry point into base-camp-style helicopter flying. Thirty minutes on the ground gives enough time to take in the panorama and get the photos that would otherwise take four or five days of trekking to earn.

Round trip from Pokhara in roughly an hour
No trekking required — suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and ages
Onboard emergency oxygen system for high-altitude safety
A quieter, less-visited alternative to the more popular Annapurna Base Camp helicopter route
Our morning starts with a short transfer to Pokhara Airport, where a quick check-in and safety briefing precede boarding. The helicopter climbs out fast, and within a few minutes the lakeside town shrinks behind us as the terrain steepens toward the Mardi Himal ridgeline — the same route trekkers cover over three or four days on foot. As we gain altitude, Machhapuchhre dominates the windscreen, its fishtail summit growing sharper against the sky, while Annapurna South and Hiunchuli fill out the panorama to the west. The forested lower slopes fall away into bare alpine ridge, and the helicopter threads a narrow approach toward the landing site with the whole Annapurna wall now visible in one sweep. Touching down at Mardi Himal Base Camp, 4,500 metres, the air is thin and cold but the view is uncluttered — no ridge or tree line breaks the sightline to Annapurna I, Gangapurna, and the glacier-draped slopes of Singu Chuli and Khangsar Kang. We have around thirty minutes here, enough time to walk a short distance from the pad, take photographs, and simply stand in a place most visitors never reach. We reboard for the short flight back, tracing the ridge downward as the valley opens up again below, and land back at Pokhara Airport roughly an hour after we first took off — a full high-mountain experience compressed into a single morning.
