Most visitors to Pokhara never make it past Phewa Lake, which is exactly what makes Begnas and Rupa worth the detour — two quieter lakes a short drive east of the city, ringed by farming villages instead of hotels and cafés. This tour walks a stretch of the lakeshore and surrounding village paths, takes to the water by boat, and includes a relaxed lakeside lunch, all at a noticeably slower pace than anything near Lakeside.
It suits travellers who've already covered Pokhara's headline sights and want a genuinely local, low-key day — birdwatching, village life, and open water, without another crowd to navigate.

9:00 AM — Hotel Pickup. We drive east from Pokhara, roughly 30–40 minutes, out to the Begnas Lake area — a noticeably quieter landscape than the city's Lakeside strip
9:45 AM – 10:45 AM — Begnas Lake Boat Ride. Duration: approx. 60 min. We start with a boat out onto Begnas Lake, its calm water framed by forested hills and small farming settlements along the shore — a much quieter scene than Phewa Lake's boating area.
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM — Village Walk Toward Rupa Lake. Trek duration: approx. 2 hrs. From the lakeshore, we walk through farming villages toward Rupa Lake, passing terraced fields, fishing communities, and everyday rural life largely untouched by tourism. Our guide points out local agricultural practices and, depending on the season, birdlife along the wetland edges.
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM — Lakeside Lunch. Time on site: 60 min. We take a relaxed lunch at a lakeside spot near Begnas or Rupa, with the water and surrounding hills as the backdrop.
2:30 PM — Drive Back to Pokhara. We return to Pokhara, arriving at the hotel by mid-afternoon.
