This tour starts before dawn, driving up in darkness to be in position as the sky lightens, then returns via Bhaktapur for a heritage stop that turns an early sunrise mission into a fuller day out. It's built for travellers short on time who still want a genuine mountain view alongside valley culture — a combination that normally takes two separate trips.

4:45 AM — Hotel Pickup. We leave Kathmandu in the dark, roughly 90 minutes before sunrise to allow for the drive up to Nagarkot's ridge.
6:00 AM – 7:00 AM — Nagarkot Sunrise Viewpoint. Time on site: 60 min. We reach the Nagarkot viewpoint tower with time to find a good vantage point before first light. As the sky turns from grey to gold, the Himalayan range emerges along the northern horizon — on the clearest mornings, a long unbroken line of snow peaks above layered hills. Afterward, we settle in for breakfast at a hillside café, still facing the view.
8:00 AM – 9:00 AM — Drive to Bhaktapur. We begin the descent toward Bhaktapur, winding down through terraced farmland and pine ridgeline.
9:15 AM – 11:30 AM — Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Time on site: 135 min. In Bhaktapur, the car-free medieval streets open up around us — Durbar Square, the 55-Window Palace, and the tiered Nyatapola Temple, followed by a walk through Pottery Square to watch potters at work. This is a good moment for an early lunch or snack before the drive back.
12:00 PM — Return & Hotel Drop-off. We return to Kathmandu, arriving at the hotel by early afternoon — leaving the rest of the day free.
