Overview

The 5-day Sunrise & Everest Base Camp Flight is a private Nepal luxury tour package covering Kathmandu, Nagarkot and the Everest region. This Everest Base Camp helicopter tour is made for travellers who want the drama of Everest country without a two-week trek, combined with one of Nepal's best sunrise viewpoints. Everything is private: your own helicopter, your own luxury car, your own guide and your own pace.

In Kathmandu, you stay at Dwarika's Hotel, a heritage hotel famous for its rescued Newari woodcarvings. With your guide, you visit Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath Temple, watching monks at sunset and holy rituals on the Bagmati River.

A scenic drive of about 1.5 to 2 hours takes you up to Nagarkot, a quiet ridge above the Kathmandu Valley at 2,175 m, where you stay at Mystic Mountain Resort and wake up to a Himalayan sunrise from the hotel terrace. From here, your private helicopter takes off for the Everest region, flying past Lukla and Namche Bazaar to see Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam up close. If the weather and the rules of the aviation and national park authorities allow, the pilot makes a short landing near Everest Base Camp or at a high viewpoint nearby, with a champagne breakfast stop at the Everest View Hotel (about 3,880 m).

Back in Kathmandu, you receive a framed aerial photo and a personal flight certificate from your Everest flight, and spend a relaxed final evening exploring the old city's courtyards and markets, or resting at your hotel.

This Nepal luxury tour package is also a lovely Nepal honeymoon package for couples, and a well-suited Nepal tour for couples and families travelling together. There is no trekking, and the only high-altitude moments are short and carefully managed by your pilot.

Detailed Itinerary

Day by Day
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath at Sunset
15–30 min from airport

Airport → Dwarika's Hotel → Pashupatinath → Boudhanath Stupa

Meals: Dinner at leisure · Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 3 hours

Your day follows your flight time, and the plan below suits a midday arrival. Because Day 2 involves a drive up to Nagarkot, we keep today's sightseeing efficient.

On arrival: Your guide meets you outside Tribhuvan International Airport with a flower garland and a warm welcome, and your driver looks after your luggage. The drive into Kathmandu takes about 15 to 30 minutes in your private, air-conditioned luxury car.

2:00 PM: Check in at Dwarika's with a welcome drink in the brick courtyard. Take time to unpack and freshen up before the sightseeing begins.

4:00 PM: Drive about 10 minutes to Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal's holiest Hindu site, on the banks of the Bagmati River. Your guide explains the rituals along the ghats. Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple but get a clear view from the opposite bank.

5:30 PM: Continue to Boudhanath Stupa and walk clockwise around its base as the sun goes down, among butter lamps, prayer wheels and monks in maroon robes.

7:00 PM: Return to Dwarika's for a relaxed first evening. Dinner is at leisure and at your own cost.

Day 2 Drive to Nagarkot and Your First Himalayan Sunset
Breakfast 1.5–2 hr drive to Nagarkot

Dwarika's Hotel → Nagarkot Ridge → Mystic Mountain Resort → Sunset from the Terrace

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car · Drive: about 1.5 to 2 hours

A relaxed morning in Kathmandu, then a scenic drive up onto the ridge where the mountains take over.

8:30 AM: Enjoy a Luxury Breakfast at Dwarika's, then check out at an easy pace.

9:30 AM: Drive out of the Kathmandu Valley and up to Nagarkot, about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic, climbing steadily through terraced fields and pine forest.

11:30 AM: Check in at Mystic Mountain Resort with a welcome drink on the terrace. Lunch at leisure at the resort (own cost).

2:00 PM: Free afternoon to walk along the ridge, visit the small Nagarkot viewing tower, or simply relax with the view from your balcony.

5:45 PM: Watch your first sunset from the hotel terrace, as the light turns gold over the Himalayan range in the distance (visibility depends on the weather). Dinner at the resort follows, with the same view by candlelight. Your guide confirms your very early pick-up for tomorrow's helicopter flight.

Day 3 Nagarkot Sunrise and Private Helicopter to Everest Base Camp
Breakfast

Nagarkot Sunrise → Kathmandu → Lukla → Everest Base Camp Landing → Everest View Hotel → Dwarika's Hotel

Meals: Sunrise views, champagne breakfast at the Everest View Hotel · Transport: Private helicopter · Flight: about 4 to 5 hours in total

The heart of the tour: a Himalayan sunrise from your hotel terrace, followed by a private helicopter flight deep into Everest country.

5:15 AM: Wake early and step onto the terrace for the Himalayan sunrise over the distant peaks, with tea or coffee brought to you (visibility depends on the weather).

6:00 AM: Return to your room for a short rest, then meet your driver, who takes you back down to Kathmandu, about 1.5 to 2 hours, for your helicopter departure.

8:00 AM: A short safety briefing and a meeting with your pilot at the helicopter base near Tribhuvan Airport.

8:30 AM: Take off and fly east over green hills and river valleys, with the first snow peaks appearing on the horizon. The first leg takes about 40 to 50 minutes, followed by a short stop at Lukla to refuel.

9:45 AM: Fly north up the Dudh Kosi valley, past Namche Bazaar and the monastery at Tengboche. Ama Dablam rises beside you, then Lhotse, Nuptse and Mount Everest come into view. At a staging stop such as Pheriche the pilot may carry guests on in smaller groups because the air is thin.

10:30 AM — Landing near Everest Base Camp, if allowed. If the weather, wind and regulations allow, the helicopter makes a short landing near Everest Base Camp or at a high viewpoint nearby (about 5,364 m). You step out for a few minutes with Everest, Lhotse and the Khumbu Icefall in front of you. Move slowly and breathe calmly, and emergency oxygen is on board. If a landing is not possible, the pilot flies close to the same views instead.

11:15 AM: Fly down to the Everest View Hotel at Syangboche (about 3,880 m), one of the highest hotels in the world. A champagne breakfast is served on the terrace, with Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam in front of you. Non-alcoholic sparkling drinks, tea and coffee are also available.

12:15 PM: Fly back down the valley, stopping briefly at Lukla, and land in Kathmandu around 1:00 PM.

1:30 PM: Return to Dwarika's for a rest. Lunch is at leisure (own cost). Our team presents you with your framed aerial photo and personal flight certificate from today's flight.

Weather back-up: mountain flying depends on clear skies. If the helicopter cannot fly on Day 3, we try again early on the morning of Day 4 and adjust the rest of your Kathmandu plan. Please keep this in mind when planning onward flights.

Day 4 Relaxed Cultural Evening in Kathmandu
Breakfast

Slow Morning at Dwarika's → Kathmandu Durbar Square or Thamel → Cultural Evening

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 3 hours

1:00 PM: Lunch at leisure (own cost).

3:00 PM: With your guide, take a relaxed walk through Kathmandu Durbar Square or the artisan lanes of Thamel, depending on your interest, for some last sightseeing and shopping.

6:00 PM: Return to Dwarika's for a relaxed cultural evening. Enjoy dinner at the hotel, and, if available, a traditional Newari cultural performance (own cost, subject to schedule).

Day 5 Kathmandu Departure
Breakfast 25–40 min to airport

Dwarika's Hotel → Tribhuvan International Airport → Departure

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car · Drive: about 25 to 40 minutes

A gentle final morning before your onward journey.

8:00 AM: Enjoy a last Luxury Breakfast and check out at an easy pace.

At your flight time: Your driver takes you to Tribhuvan International Airport, about 25 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and your hotel. We recommend arriving at the airport about 3 hours before an international flight.

Have an evening flight, or want more time in Kathmandu? Ask us to add a half-day of shopping or extra sightseeing on Day 5.

Frequently Asked Questions

Trip Info & FAQs for Sunrise & Everest Base Camp Flight: 5 Days Luxury Sunrise & Helicopter Adventure

General Information

Five days is a comfortable length. You get a Kathmandu evening, a Nagarkot sunrise, the Everest helicopter flight and a relaxed cultural day before you fly home, with a natural weather back-up built into the schedule.
The classic trek to Everest Base Camp takes about two weeks round trip. This tour reaches the same dramatic scenery, and often a landing very close to Base Camp, in a single morning by private helicopter, so it suits travellers with limited time.
It suits couples, honeymooners, families and anyone who wants to see Everest in comfort. There is no trekking, and the pace is easy. Guests with heart or lung problems should ask their doctor first.
Yes. You have your own helicopter, luxury car, driver and guide. You never share the tour with other guests unless you travel with friends or family.
Yes. We can add nights, or combine this tour with a Pokhara or Chitwan extension. Tell us your dates and we will build it around you.
About 5,364 m near Everest Base Camp, if the high landing is possible. If it is not, the highest point is the Everest View Hotel at about 3,880 m.

Activities

A short landing near Everest Base Camp or at a high viewpoint nearby is planned if the weather, the wind and the current rules allow. It is never guaranteed. If it is not possible, the pilot flies close to the same views, and you still land at the Everest View Hotel for breakfast.
A keepsake from your Everest flight: a printed and framed aerial photograph taken during the flight, along with a personal certificate noting your flight and the date, presented to you back in Kathmandu.
After the high-altitude portion of the flight, the helicopter lands at the Everest View Hotel at Syangboche (about 3,880 m). A breakfast with a glass of champagne is served on the terrace with Everest in front of you. Non-alcoholic options are also available.
On a very clear day, distant Himalayan peaks including, at times, Everest can be seen from Nagarkot, but the main draw there is the wide Himalayan panorama and sunrise, not a close-up view of Everest, which the helicopter flight provides instead.

Accommodation

Dwarika's in Kathmandu is a heritage hotel with carved woodwork, courtyards, a pool and a spa. Mystic Mountain Resort in Nagarkot is a boutique hillside hotel with private balconies facing the Himalayan range.
Yes. Suite and view-room upgrades are available at both hotels on request, subject to availability.

Food and Drinks

Luxury Breakfast every morning is included (4 in total), and on Day 3 it is the champagne breakfast at the Everest View Hotel. Lunches and dinners are at your own cost.
No. Please tell us when you book and the hotel kitchens can plan around vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other needs.
No. Please drink bottled or filtered water only. Bottled water is provided in your car.

Transport, Flights and Guide

From near Tribhuvan Airport in Kathmandu. Your driver takes you back down from Nagarkot early on Day 3 to reach the helicopter base in time.
Mountain flights can be affected by weather. If the Everest flight cannot go on Day 3, we try again on the morning of Day 4 and adjust your remaining Kathmandu plan.
A private air-conditioned luxury car with an experienced driver. For larger groups we provide a bigger vehicle of the same standard.
Yes, an evening flight works well. We recommend arriving at the airport about 3 hours before an international departure.

Weather and Best Time

October to November and March to May give the clearest views. December to February is also clear, but very cold and windy at altitude. We do not recommend the Everest flight in the monsoon (June to August).
The pilot decides on the morning. If it is not safe, we try again on Day 4. Kathmandu sightseeing continues in light rain.

Visa & Insurance

Most foreign travellers need a Nepal tourist visa, while Indian citizens do not. Visas are available on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport for USD 30 (15 days), USD 50 (30 days) or USD 125 (90 days), or you can apply online before you travel.
No. Please arrange travel insurance before you arrive in Nepal, including medical cover and trip cancellation.
Nepal is generally safe for visitors, and Kathmandu, Nagarkot and the Everest region are used to tourists from all over the world. Your private guide and driver look after you throughout, and our team is available 24/7 by WhatsApp.

Payment

The price depends on your group size, travel dates and room category. Please send us an enquiry and we will reply with a clear quote, usually within the hour.
Fill in the booking form or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp. A 10% deposit confirms your booking, and we will then share the next steps.
