Because it sits lower than most glacier lakes in Nepal, it's accessible to helicopter passengers of virtually any age or fitness level, while still delivering the turquoise water, glacier ice, and Annapurna panorama that usually require days of trekking.
The flight from Pokhara climbs north over Gurung villages, terraced farmland, and forested ridgelines before opening onto views of Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal, and Machhapuchhre, then descends to land near the lake itself for roughly 15 to 30 minutes of ground time. At around 90 minutes total, it's one of the more compact helicopter tours on offer from Pokhara — well suited to travellers wanting a scenic glacier-lake experience without committing a full day.

We depart our Pokhara hotel early to catch the clearest morning air, transferring to the domestic airport for a brief check-in before boarding. As the helicopter lifts off, Pokhara's rooftops and Phewa Lake fall away quickly, replaced by a patchwork of terraced fields and forested hillsides dotted with Gurung villages. Climbing steadily, we track a valley lined with cascading waterfalls and dense forest, gaining height toward the Annapurna foothills. The cabin fills with views of Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and the unmistakable profile of Machhapuchhre, each peak sharpening as we close the distance and the terrain below turns rockier and more alpine. The helicopter banks toward Kapuche Lake, its glacial water visible well before we land — a striking turquoise pool set into a bowl of cliffs and snowfields fed directly by the Annapurna range's melting ice. Touching down nearby, we have roughly fifteen to thirty minutes to walk close to the shoreline, take photographs, and take in a landscape that would otherwise take several days of trekking to reach on foot. Reboarding for the return, the helicopter retraces its route back down through the valley, offering a second pass at the waterfalls and terraced hillsides before Pokhara reappears below. Around 25 minutes later, we land back at Pokhara Airport, the whole round trip having taken little more than an hour.
