Overview

The 5-day Muktinath Holy Helicopter Trip is a private Nepal luxury tour package covering Kathmandu, Pokhara and Muktinath. This Muktinath helicopter tour is made for pilgrims and travellers who want to reach one of the holiest sites in the Himalaya without the long trek or the bumpy mountain road. Everything is private: your own helicopter, your own luxury car, your own guide and your own pace.

In Kathmandu, you stay at Dwarika's Hotel, a heritage hotel famous for its rescued Newari woodcarvings. With your guide, you visit Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa and Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple), watching holy rituals on the Bagmati River and monks at sunset around the great stupa.

A short scenic flight of about 25 minutes then takes you to Pokhara, where you stay at Temple Tree Resort & Spa beside Phewa Lake. From Pokhara, your private helicopter flies over the Kali Gandaki, the world's deepest gorge, and the villages of Jomsom and Kagbeni, landing you close to the Muktinath Temple at 3,710 m, holy to both Hindus and Buddhists. Your personal pilgrimage guide leads you through the temple rituals, the 108 water spouts and the eternal flame, and helps arrange a private blessing before you fly back.

Back in Pokhara, the rest of your stay is unhurried: a private boat ride to Tal Barahi Temple, a visit to the World Peace Pagoda, and a relaxing wellness evening, with a spa treatment and a quiet dinner by the lake.

This Nepal luxury tour package also works well as a Nepal pilgrimage tour for multi-generational families, and a comfortable Nepal tour for couples who want a meaningful, easy journey. There is no trekking, and the only high-altitude moment is a short, well-managed visit to Muktinath.

Detailed Itinerary

Day by Day
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath at Sunset
15–30 min from airport

Airport → Dwarika's Hotel → Pashupatinath → Boudhanath Stupa

Meals: Dinner at leisure · Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 3 hours

Your first day depends on your flight time, and the plan below suits a midday arrival.

On arrival: Your guide meets you outside Tribhuvan International Airport with a flower garland and a warm welcome, and your driver looks after your luggage. The drive into Kathmandu takes about 15 to 30 minutes in your private, air-conditioned luxury car.

2:00 PM: Check in at Dwarika's with a welcome drink in the brick courtyard. Take time to unpack and freshen up before the sightseeing begins.

4:00 PM: Drive about 10 minutes to Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal's holiest Hindu site, on the banks of the Bagmati River. Your guide explains the rituals along the ghats. Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple but get a clear view from the opposite bank.

5:30 PM: Continue to Boudhanath Stupa and walk clockwise around its base as the sun goes down, among butter lamps, prayer wheels and monks in maroon robes.

7:00 PM: Return to Dwarika's for a relaxed first evening. Dinner is at leisure and at your own cost.

Day 2 Swayambhunath and Flight to Pokhara
Breakfast

Dwarika's Hotel → Swayambhunath → Kathmandu Airport → Flight → Temple Tree Resort, Pokhara

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car and domestic flight · Flight: about 25 minutes

A morning at the valley's hilltop stupa, then a scenic flight to the lake, ready for tomorrow's pilgrimage flight.

8:00 AM: Enjoy a Luxury Breakfast at Dwarika's, then meet your guide for a morning of sightseeing.

9:15 AM: Drive up to Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, and climb to the hilltop stupa where painted Buddha eyes look out over the city. Spin the prayer wheels as you go and enjoy wide views across the whole valley.

11:30 AM: Return to Dwarika's, check out and have lunch at leisure (own cost).

1:30 PM: Drive to the domestic airport for your flight to Pokhara, about 25 minutes. Ask for a window seat, as the route often gives fine Himalayan views.

3:30 PM: Your driver meets you at Pokhara Airport and takes you to Temple Tree Resort & Spa. Enjoy a welcome drink and settle in.

5:15 PM: Take an easy sunset walk along the shore of Phewa Lake, a few minutes from your resort. Dinner is at leisure (own cost). Your guide confirms your early pick-up for tomorrow's helicopter flight.

Day 3 Private Helicopter to Muktinath, Temple Rituals and a Private Blessing
Breakfast

Pokhara → Kali Gandaki Gorge → Jomsom & Kagbeni → Muktinath Temple → Pokhara

Meals: Luxury Breakfast, boxed breakfast or brunch at Muktinath · Transport: Private helicopter · Flight: about 2 hours in total

Today is the heart of the tour: a private helicopter flight over the Kali Gandaki gorge to one of the holiest temples in the Himalaya.

5:30 AM: An early Luxury Breakfast at Temple Tree, then your driver takes you to Pokhara Airport for your helicopter.

6:30 AM: Take off from Pokhara and fly north-west along the Kali Gandaki, the world's deepest gorge, with Dhaulagiri and Annapurna rising on either side. You pass over Jomsom and the walled village of Kagbeni before landing near Ranipauwa, a short distance below Muktinath Temple.

7:30 AM: Meet your personal pilgrimage guide, who walks you up to Muktinath Temple (a gentle 20 to 30 minute walk, or by pony on request). At the temple, your guide explains the significance of the 108 bull-head water spouts, where pilgrims bathe, and the Jwala Mai shrine, where a natural flame burns beside a spring of water.

9:00 AM: With your guide, take part in the temple rituals at your own pace, and arrange a private blessing with a temple priest (offering costs are extra and paid directly, typically a small amount in NPR).

10:30 AM: A boxed breakfast or brunch is served with a view over the Muktinath valley and the barren, high-altitude landscape of Mustang.

11:30 AM: Fly back over the Kali Gandaki gorge to Pokhara, landing around midday. Timing on the day can shift by an hour or so depending on mountain weather.

1:00 PM: Return to Temple Tree Resort & Spa. The rest of the afternoon is free to rest after an early start.

4:00 PM — Relaxing wellness evening. Enjoy a spa treatment at the resort (own cost) followed by a quiet dinner by the lake at a restaurant of your choice (own cost).

Weather back-up: mountain flying depends on calm winds, especially through the Kali Gandaki gorge, which can turn strong by late morning. If the helicopter cannot fly on Day 3, we try again early on the morning of Day 4 and adjust the rest of your Pokhara plan accordingly.

Day 4 Phewa Lake, Tal Barahi Temple and the World Peace Pagoda
Breakfast

Temple Tree Resort → Phewa Lake → Tal Barahi Temple → World Peace Pagoda

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 4 hours

A calm day on the water and in the hills above the lake, a gentle contrast after yesterday's pilgrimage.

8:30 AM: Enjoy a Luxury Breakfast at Temple Tree with no early start today.

10:00 AM: Board your own private boat on Phewa Lake and cross to the island temple of Tal Barahi, one of Pokhara's most sacred sites.

11:45 AM: Your luxury car meets you on the far shore and drives you up to the World Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa), with wide views of the lake, the city and the Annapurna range.

1:15 PM: Lunch at a lakeside cafe with views over the water (own cost).

3:00 PM: Free afternoon to swim, book a spa treatment (own cost) or explore. Your guide can also take you to Davis Fall, Gupteshwor Cave or the International Mountain Museum.

6:00 PM: A farewell dinner at a restaurant of your choice (own cost). Our team can reserve a table for you.

Day 5 Lakeside Morning, Flight to Kathmandu and Farewell
Breakfast

Temple Tree Resort → Pokhara Airport → Flight → Kathmandu → Onward Journey

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car and domestic flight · Flight: about 25 minutes

A last relaxed morning by the lake before you fly back to Kathmandu for your onward journey.

7:30 AM: Enjoy a Luxury Breakfast at Temple Tree, then take a last walk in the gardens or a swim.

11:00 AM: Check out and drive to Pokhara Airport for your flight to Kathmandu, about 25 minutes. The exact flight time depends on the airline's schedule and is confirmed before your trip.

1:00 PM: Your driver meets you in Kathmandu and takes you to your onward flight. We recommend booking your international flight for 5:00 PM or later so there is a comfortable buffer.

Have a morning international flight, or want a rest before you fly? Ask us to add a night at Dwarika's.

Frequently Asked Questions

Trip Info & FAQs for Muktinath Holy Helicopter Trip: 5 Days Luxury Helicopter Pilgrimage & Lakeside Retreat

General Information

Five days is a comfortable length. You get two nights in Kathmandu, two nights in Pokhara, and the Muktinath helicopter flight in between, with the morning of Day 4 kept as a natural weather back-up.
The classic route to Muktinath by road and on foot can take several days each way. This tour reaches the temple by private helicopter from Pokhara in about an hour, so you experience the pilgrimage without the long journey, which suits travellers with limited time or lower fitness.
It suits pilgrims, multi-generational families, couples and anyone who wants a meaningful visit to Muktinath in comfort. There is no trekking, and the pace is easy, with one short day at moderate altitude.
Yes. You have your own helicopter, luxury car, driver, guide and a personal pilgrimage guide at Muktinath. You never share the tour with other guests unless you travel with friends or family.
Yes. We can add nights, combine it with an Annapurna or Everest helicopter tour, or add a Sarangkot sunrise. Tell us your dates and we will build it around you.
Muktinath Temple, at about 3,710 m.

Activities

The temple's 108 bull-head water spouts, where pilgrims bathe, and the Jwala Mai shrine, where a natural flame burns beside a spring of water, considered a sacred and rare sight for both Hindus and Buddhists.
Yes. Your personal pilgrimage guide helps arrange a private blessing with a temple priest. Offerings and donations are paid directly and are not included in the tour price.
No. Bathing under the spouts is an optional ritual some pilgrims choose to do. The water is very cold, and you are never required to take part.
It is considered the world's deepest gorge, cut between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri massifs. Your helicopter flies along it on the way to Muktinath, with dramatic mountain views on both sides.
After your pilgrimage day, you have free time back at Temple Tree Resort & Spa in Pokhara for a spa treatment and a quiet dinner by the lake, both at your own cost.

Accommodation

Dwarika's in Kathmandu is a heritage hotel with carved woodwork, courtyards, a pool and a spa. Temple Tree Resort & Spa in Pokhara is a peaceful boutique resort near Phewa Lake with a pool and a full spa, ideal for your wellness evening.
Yes. Suite upgrades are available at both hotels on request, subject to availability.
Check-in is usually from 2:00 PM and check-out around 11:00 AM or 12:00 PM. Early check-in and late check-out depend on availability and may cost extra.

Food and Drinks

Luxury Breakfast every morning is included (4 in total), plus a boxed breakfast or brunch served at Muktinath on Day 3. Lunches and dinners elsewhere are at your own cost.
Of course. Our team and your guide will suggest and reserve good restaurants at your request, including for your wellness evening dinner.
No. Please tell us when you book, including for the boxed meal at Muktinath, and we can plan around vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other needs.
No. Please drink bottled or filtered water only. Bottled water is provided in your car and on the helicopter.

Transport, Flights and Guide

About 2 hours in total, including the ground time at the temple, from take-off in Pokhara to landing back in Pokhara.
About 25 minutes. By road the same journey takes 6 to 7 hours, so the flight saves you most of a day. Flights on Day 2 and Day 5 are included in this package.
Mountain flights can be affected by weather and wind. If the Muktinath flight cannot go on Day 3, we try again early on Day 4. For Kathmandu–Pokhara flights, we arrange the best alternative, such as a later flight or a private drive of 6 to 7 hours.
A private air-conditioned luxury car with an experienced driver. For larger groups we provide a bigger vehicle of the same standard.
You reach Kathmandu around 1:00 PM, so we recommend an international flight at 5:00 PM or later. If you have a morning flight, we can add a night in Kathmandu.

Weather and Best Time

October to November and March to April, when mornings are calm and skies are clear. Winter (Dec–Feb) can also work but is cold, with possible snow at Muktinath. We do not recommend this tour in the monsoon (Jun–Aug), when wind and cloud make flying unreliable.
We try again on the following morning where the itinerary allows, and always aim to protect your pilgrimage day. If it truly cannot go ahead, we discuss a refund of the helicopter portion with you.

Visa & Insurance

Most foreign travellers need a Nepal tourist visa, while Indian citizens do not. Visas are available on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport for USD 30 (15 days), USD 50 (30 days) or USD 125 (90 days), or you can apply online before you travel.
No. Please arrange travel insurance before you arrive in Nepal, including medical cover and trip cancellation.
Nepal is generally safe for visitors, and Kathmandu, Pokhara and the Muktinath area are used to tourists from all over the world. Your private guide and driver look after you throughout, and our team is available 24/7 by WhatsApp.

Payment

The price depends on your group size, travel dates and room category. Please send us an enquiry and we will reply with a clear quote, usually within the hour.
Fill in the booking form or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp. A 10% deposit confirms your booking, and we will then share the next steps.
Bank transfer, Visa, AMEX, Mastercard, debit cards, Wise, Western Union, secure online payment through the website, or USD cash on arrival in Kathmandu.
Free cancellation up to 30 days before departure. Please check our Terms & Conditions for full details.
