Overview

The 7-day Private Guided Nepal tour is a private Nepal luxury tour package covering Kathmandu and Pokhara, built entirely around one idea: a single expert guide with you from start to finish. This is a genuine private guided Nepal tour, made for travellers who want to go beyond the standard sightseeing experience stops and see the country through the eyes of someone who knows it deeply. Everything is private: your own luxury car, your own guide throughout, and your own pace.

In Kathmandu, you stay at Dwarika's Hotel, a heritage hotel famous for its rescued Newari woodcarvings, itself a fitting base for a trip about craft and culture. With your private guide, you visit Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath (the Monkey Temple), Patan Durbar Square and Bhaktapur Durbar Square, but the emphasis throughout is on the details a standard tour would miss: quiet courtyards, working artists' workshops, small family-run temples and conversations with craftsmen who have practised their trade for generations.

A short scenic flight of about 25 minutes takes you to Pokhara, the lake city at the foot of the Annapurna range. You stay at Temple Tree Resort & Spa, just a short walk from Phewa Lake, and watch the sunrise from Sarangkot over Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhre. Your guide continues to open doors here too, from a private boat ride to Tal Barahi Temple to lesser-known viewpoints and local eateries.

Your signature experience is a private thangka painting or metalwork class with a master artist in Patan or Bhaktapur, where you learn directly from someone who has spent a lifetime mastering the craft, with your guide translating and explaining the symbolism as you go.

This Nepal luxury tour package is a wonderful choice for culturally curious couples and families, and works equally well as a Nepal honeymoon package for couples who want depth over a checklist. There is no trekking, and the entire journey is shaped around your interests and pace, with your guide adjusting each day to what you enjoy most.

Detailed Itinerary

Day by Day
Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu, Pashupatinath and Boudhanath at Sunset
N/A 15–30 min from airport

Airport → Dwarika's Hotel → Pashupatinath → Boudhanath Stupa

· Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 3 hours

Your first day depends on your flight time, and the plan below suits a midday arrival. This is also your first chance to tell your guide what interests you most, so the rest of the trip can be shaped around it.

On arrival: Your guide meets you outside Tribhuvan International Airport with a flower garland and a warm welcome, and your driver looks after your luggage. On the drive into Kathmandu, about 15 to 30 minutes, your guide asks about your interests so the coming days can be tailored around them.

2:00 PM: Check in at Dwarika's with a welcome drink in the brick courtyard. Your guide can join you for a short private tour of the hotel's own woodcarving workshop, a fitting introduction to the craft you will see throughout the trip.

4:00 PM: Drive about 10 minutes to Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal's holiest Hindu site, on the banks of the Bagmati River. Your guide explains the rituals along the ghats in depth, well beyond a standard overview. Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple but get a clear view from the opposite bank.

5:30 PM: Continue to Boudhanath Stupa and walk clockwise around its base as the sun goes down, among butter lamps, prayer wheels and monks in maroon robes. Your guide points out details in the paintings and prayer flags that most visitors miss.

7:00 PM: Return to Dwarika's for a relaxed first evening. Dinner is at leisure and at your own cost, and your guide is happy to suggest a restaurant that matches your tastes.

Day 2 Swayambhunath and Patan's Artists' Workshops
Breakfast

Dwarika's Hotel → Swayambhunath → Patan Durbar Square → Metalworkers' Workshops

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 7 hours including lunch

A day built around craft and detail, starting with the valley's hilltop stupa and continuing into the working workshops of Patan.

8:00 AM: Enjoy a Luxury Breakfast at Dwarika's, then meet your guide for a full day.

9:15 AM: Drive up to Swayambhunath, the Monkey Temple, and climb to the hilltop stupa where painted Buddha eyes look out over the city. Spin the prayer wheels as you go and enjoy wide views across the whole valley.

11:15 AM: Drive to Patan Durbar Square, once the seat of the Malla kings, and visit the Patan Museum and the ornate Golden Temple nearby.

12:30 PM: With your guide, step into the lanes behind the square where metalworkers still cast statues and ritual objects by hand, using methods passed down for generations. Your guide arranges an introduction so you can watch the process up close and ask questions.

1:30 PM: Lunch at a heritage courtyard restaurant in Patan (own cost), where your guide can suggest a few classic Nepali dishes worth trying.

3:00 PM: Continue exploring Patan's quieter lanes and courtyards with your guide, well away from the busier tourist routes, discovering small shrines and traditional Newari houses.

6:00 PM: Return to your hotel after a full day. The evening is free for a quiet dinner of your choice (own cost).

Day 3 Bhaktapur's Old City and a Private Craft Class
Breakfast

Dwarika's Hotel → Bhaktapur Durbar Square → Pottery Square → Private Thangka or Metalwork Class

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 7 hours including lunch

Your signature day: a deep exploration of Bhaktapur's medieval streets, followed by hands-on time with a master artist.

8:00 AM: Enjoy a Luxury Breakfast at Dwarika's, then drive to Bhaktapur, the best-preserved medieval city of the valley, about 45 minutes.

9:15 AM: Explore Durbar Square, the five-storey Nyatapola Temple and Pottery Square, where your guide introduces you to potters still shaping clay on foot-powered wheels.

11:00 AM — Private thangka painting or metalwork class with a master artist. Depending on your interest, spend time with a thangka painter learning the symbolism and technique behind these intricate Buddhist scroll paintings, or with a metalworker learning the basics of repoussé and casting. Your guide translates and explains the meaning behind each step.

1:00 PM: Lunch at a rooftop restaurant overlooking Bhaktapur's terracotta rooftops (own cost). Try Bhaktapur's famous king curd, a thick, sweet yoghurt, if you would like.

2:30 PM: Continue wandering Bhaktapur's quieter courtyards and lanes with your guide, away from the main square, to see daily life continuing much as it has for centuries.

5:30 PM: Return to Dwarika's. The evening is free for a quiet dinner of your choice (own cost) and an early night before tomorrow's flight.

Day 4 Kathmandu Durbar Square and Flight to Pokhara
Breakfast

Dwarika's Hotel → Kathmandu Durbar Square → Flight → Temple Tree Resort, Pokhara

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car and domestic flight · Flight: about 25 minutes

A last morning of Kathmandu heritage, then a scenic flight to the lake.

8:00 AM: Enjoy a Luxury Breakfast at Dwarika's, then meet your guide for a final morning in the old city.

9:00 AM: Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, the historic royal palace complex, with your guide explaining the layered history of the Malla and Shah dynasties and pointing out details across the square's many temples and courtyards.

11:00 AM: Return to Dwarika's, check out and have lunch at leisure (own cost).

1:00 PM: Drive to the domestic airport for your flight to Pokhara, about 25 minutes. Ask for a window seat, as the route often gives fine Himalayan views.

3:00 PM: Your driver meets you at Pokhara Airport and takes you to Temple Tree Resort & Spa. Enjoy a welcome drink and settle into your room.

5:15 PM: Take an easy sunset walk along the shore of Phewa Lake with your guide, who can point out a few local spots away from the main tourist strip. Dinner is at leisure afterwards (own cost).

Day 5 Sarangkot Sunrise, Phewa Lake and Local Pokhara
Breakfast

Temple Tree Resort → Sarangkot → Phewa Lake → Tal Barahi Temple → Old Bazaar

Meals: Luxury Breakfast · Transport: Private luxury car · Sightseeing: about 7 hours

A classic Himalayan sunrise, a private boat ride, and time exploring Pokhara beyond the usual stops.

5:00 AM: Drive up to Sarangkot, about 30 to 40 minutes from the resort, and settle in at the viewpoint with a flask of hot tea or coffee.

5:45 AM: Watch the sunrise as Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) light up one after another, with the lake still in shadow far below.

7:30 AM: Return to Temple Tree Resort & Spa for a Luxury Breakfast, then rest by the pool.

10:30 AM: Board your own private boat on Phewa Lake and cross to the island temple of Tal Barahi, one of Pokhara's most sacred sites.

12:15 PM: Lunch at a lakeside cafe with views over the water (own cost).

2:00 PM: With your guide, explore a side of Pokhara most visitors miss: the Old Bazaar, a small local market, or a quiet walk through a Gurung or Newari neighbourhood, depending on your interest.

5:00 PM: Free time to relax at the resort or continue exploring with your guide.

6:30 PM: A farewell dinner at a restaurant your guide recommends, matched to your tastes (own cost).

Frequently Asked Questions

Trip Info & FAQs for 7 Days Luxury Private-Guided Culture & Mountain Tour

General Information

Seven days is a comfortable length, with three nights in each city plus a flexible day in Pokhara that can be shaped around your interests.
The same private guide stays with you for the entire trip, rather than being handed off between cities, and the itinerary is built to go deeper into fewer places, including artists' workshops and a hands-on craft class, rather than rushing through a long list of sights.
It suits culturally curious travellers, couples and families who want depth and personal attention rather than a fixed checklist. There is no trekking, and the pace is set largely by you.
Yes. You have your own luxury car and the same guide throughout. You never share the tour with other guests unless you travel with friends or family.
Yes. We can add nights, add a helicopter tour, or extend the flexible day into two. Tell us your interests and dates and we will build it around you.
The Sarangkot viewpoint near Pokhara, at about 1,600 m. There is no altitude risk for most guests.

Activities

A hands-on session with a working master artist in Patan or Bhaktapur, learning either the symbolism and technique of traditional thangka painting or the basics of metal casting and repoussé work, with your guide translating throughout.
Yes. Day 6 in Pokhara is intentionally left open, and you plan it together with your guide based on what you have most enjoyed so far, whether that is more culture, nature, relaxation or another activity.
Yes, and we encourage it. If you let us know your interests when you book, whether that is textiles, architecture, food, photography or something else, your guide can prepare in advance and arrange the best introductions.
From Sarangkot near Pokhara, where you see Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Machhapuchhre light up one by one. It is best in autumn and spring.

Accommodation

Dwarika's in Kathmandu is a heritage hotel with carved woodwork, courtyards, a pool, a spa and its own working woodcarving workshop, a natural fit for this culturally focused trip. Temple Tree Resort & Spa in Pokhara is a peaceful boutique resort near Phewa Lake with a pool and a full spa.
Yes. Suite upgrades are available at both hotels on request, subject to availability.

Food and Drinks

Luxury Breakfast every morning is included (6 in total). Other lunches and dinners are at your own cost, and your guide is happy to recommend restaurants that match your tastes each day.
No. Please tell us when you book and the hotel kitchens can plan around vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other needs.
No. Please drink bottled or filtered water only. Bottled water is provided in your car.

Transport, Flights and Guide

Yes. Your guide travels with you on the flight to Pokhara and stays with you for the rest of the trip, which is a key part of what makes this tour different from a standard itinerary.
About 25 minutes. By road the same journey takes 6 to 7 hours, so the flight saves you most of a day.
Flights can be affected by weather. We arrange the best alternative, such as a later flight or a private drive of 6 to 7 hours.
A private air-conditioned luxury car with an experienced driver. For larger groups we provide a bigger vehicle of the same standard.
You reach Kathmandu around 1:00 PM, so we recommend an international flight at 5:00 PM or later. If you have a morning flight, we can add a night in Kathmandu.

Weather and Best Time

October to November and March to April give the clearest mountain views at Sarangkot. Because much of this tour is workshop and culture-focused, it works well in any season, including the monsoon.
Most sightseeing and all workshop visits continue in light rain. If a sunrise is cloudy, we try again the next morning where possible.

Visa & Insurance

Most foreign travellers need a Nepal tourist visa, while Indian citizens do not. Visas are available on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport for USD 30 (15 days), USD 50 (30 days) or USD 125 (90 days), or you can apply online before you travel.
No. Please arrange travel insurance before you arrive in Nepal, including medical cover and trip cancellation.
Nepal is generally safe for visitors, and Kathmandu and Pokhara are used to tourists from all over the world. Your private guide and driver look after you throughout, and our team is available 24/7 by WhatsApp.

Payment

The price depends on your group size, travel dates and room category. Please send us an enquiry and we will reply with a clear quote, usually within the hour.
Fill in the booking form or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp. A 10% deposit confirms your booking, and we will then share the next steps.
Bank transfer, Visa, AMEX, Mastercard, debit cards, Wise, Western Union, secure online payment through the website, or USD cash on arrival in Kathmandu.
Free cancellation up to 30 days before departure. Please check our Terms & Conditions for full details.
